Graduate Technician / Technical & Development

Zotefoams is using its unique nitrogen expansion technology to foam a variety of advanced polymers, many of which have never been foamed before. The materials such as PVDF, PSU, PPSU, Polyamide and Silicone are classified under the ZOTEK® brand. By foaming these polymers, Zotefoams adds light weight, buoyancy, flexibility and vastly improved thermal insulation to the original polymers inherent properties.

Position: Graduate Technician

Location: South London / Surrey (Commutable from Croydon, Mitcham, Crawley, Sutton, Epsom, Bromley, Leatherhead)

ROLE:

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate from a chemistry or engineering discipline to work with an established global organisation that works on an extensive and diverse product portfolio.

The Graduate Technician will perform trials, tests and investigations in order to achieve agreed business objectives for the development and introduction of raw materials, products and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

a) Be fully competent in the operation of laboratory processing machinery and test equipment.
b) Produce trial samples and test pieces for evaluation.
c) Produce accurate and timely reports of trials, tests and investigations.
d) Comply fully with and promote safe and environmentally responsible working practices, in accordance with site procedures, and ensure that COSHH and risk assessments have been carried out prior to the use of any new substances, equipment or processes.
e) Deliver training on laboratory process equipment and undergo training and development as appropriate to meet the ongoing needs of the business.
f) Maintain all work areas in a clean, tidy and clearly organised condition and promote good housekeeping behaviours.
g) Positively and actively contribute to all meetings where specific knowledge or input is required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

a) Minimum degree level or equivalent in a chemistry or engineering related discipline, ideally polymer or materials science.
b) Ability to competently operate all necessary laboratory and production equipment for the preparation and testing of development materials.
c) Self-motivated with the ability to perform laboratory and production trials, tests and investigations to agreed timescales.
d) Ability to accurately record, report and present information both verbally and in writing and good interpersonal skills to enable effective communication at all levels within the organisation.
e) Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
f) Ability to prioritise, take charge of your own workload and high attention to detail.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL:

Zotefoams is based on the A236 between Mitcham and Croydon. It is served by regular bus, and tram services connecting to Wimbledon, Croydon, East Croydon, Morden, Mitcham Junction, Tooting and Tooting Broadway.
