![]() THE DIFFERENCE The unique high-pressure, nitrogen gas solution process produces foams that are superior to those manufactured by other processes. Azote foams are pure and chemically inert. They do not contain blowing agent residues and have a uniform cell structure with regular cell walls, which gives the foams their consistent and isotropic mechanical properties. Blowing agent residues in chemically blown foam cause an unwelcome odor and can be a source of corrosion. Irregular cell size is a feature of chemically blown foams and small scale imperfections and residues seen at the cell interface can seriously reduce mechanical strength (tear, tensile and compressive). These impurities detract from the inertness and other physical characteristics of the foam. Chemically blown foams often have irregular density distribution, potentially causing problems during subsequent thermoforming operations.
