ZOTEK features and benefits

ZOTEK foams are manufactured from a range of fluoropolymers , engineering thermoplastics and speciality elastomers, each of which has its own specialist properties and performance characteristics. Many of these materials are renown for their durability, thermal stability, resistance to chemical attack and outstanding FST (Flame, Smoke and Toxicity) performance.

ZOTEK foams combine these properties with light weight, flexibility and insulation properties derived from the foaming process.

Low weight
Polymers in the ZOTEK range are available with densities as low as 30 kg/m3, a fraction of the specific gravity of the solid resin. Many new applications for advanced polymer foams are being uncovered, especially in the aerospace and automotive industries where performance at low weight is a major factor.

Thermal Stability
The range of polymers used to produce ZOTEK foams offers a range of operating temperatures from as low as cryogenic to as high as 200°C.

Flexibility
The foaming process can impart elastomeric qualities to some polymers broadening their spheres of potential use to include such applications as low closure force seals and gaskets.

Insulation
Being of a closed cell construction, ZOTEK foams offer an excellent combination of thermal and acoustic insulation and moisture barrier properties, dependent on density and original polymer characteristics. Combined with light weight and outstanding FST properties, this makes grades within the range ideal for insulation in transport applications.

Purity
Many of the original polymers are renown for their purity and some are popular for clean room applications. The Zotefoams' foaming process is nitrogen expansion and therefore maintains these high levels of purity.

Ease of Fabrication
ZOTEK foams can generally be converted and fabricated using basic foam fabrication techniques such as sawing, splitting, routing, laminating, welding, die cutting etc. Most grades are ideal for thermoforming using vacuum forming or compression moulding techniques and can be used in combination with other materials.
